Volterra smart charging · VinUniversity

The brief

A research team at VinUniversity had built Volterra, a smart platform for EV charging stations. They needed a film for investors and people who already know the field: an audience that would judge whether the technology is real, so the film could go deep.

What made it hard

Most of our films start with a person. This one started with an idea, and we had to understand it properly before we could plan a single shot. We spent about two weeks on research with the team: how the system works, which ideas matter most, and in what order a viewer needs to hear them.

The film had to be technical enough for specialists and still clear enough that an investor who isn't an engineer could follow the case.

The decision that made it work

We split the work between people and graphics. The researchers explain the problem and why their approach matters, in their own words, and motion graphics carry the how. The graphics show the logic of the system step by step, so a viewer can follow ideas that would take much longer to explain out loud.

The result

The film gave the team one clear version of their story to put in front of investors and partners. For us it proved we can take on knowledge-heavy films, where the job is translating an idea without losing any of it.

Who this kind of film is for

Universities, research teams, start-ups and technical companies raising money or looking for partners, with a product that is hard to explain to people outside the lab.
